Not sure. I didn't even know it was possible to patent such a thing as a playoff system. I don't know how you could claim any innovation had taken place, how would royalties work for a patent on a playoff system?

I doubt we will ever get to the playoff system because it would be more fair than the current system and all the schools with money want to keep the advantage they have.
