The Hardin-Jefferson Hawks did just the opposite in the Area Round against Navasota as they did in the Bi-District game against Liberty. HJ jumped on Liberty and never looked back. Well against Navasota the Rattlers led for the first 30 minutes and 50 seconds of the game. The Hawks then turned it up a notch and took the lead for the first time with just over a minute remaining the in the game. HJ went on to win 68-64 over Navasota, a team the Hawks have knocked out of the playoffs 6 of the last 9 years. HJ ranked #16 in the Class 4A polls moved to 28-6 on the season with the victory. Now the #2 state ranked Houston Sterling Raiders stand between the Hawks and another trip to the Regional Tournament. Sterling is 27-5 on the season, and the Raiders defeated LC-M by a score of 46-27 in the Area Round Bobcats. The Regional Quarter Final game will be played at Barbers Hill High School as a double header with the Kountze Lions and Hempstead. Tip off is set for 8:00pm with LIVE play by play action from Rob Lietzke here on the Big Red Insider Radio Network. Winner of this game will advance to the Regional Semi-Finals to take on either Waco La Vega or Tatum.
