Sept 17th:

Girls in kindergarten through eighth grade will have a chance to rev up routines for Saturday night lights when Lamar University hosts a Spirit Team Football Clinic Saturday, Sept. 10.

The clinic will be in the Montagne Center, with registration from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and instruction and activities from 9 a.m. to noon. Participants will learn routines they will perform at the Sept. 17 home football game in Provost Umphrey Stadium. The Lamar Cardinals will take on the Cardinals of San Antonio’s Incarnate Word in the 7 p.m. grid match-up.

“This performance will be the most exciting benefit of the clinic,” said Kristyn Henderson, cheer and mascot coordinator at Lamar. “The spotlight will shine on our clinic ‘stars’ during halftime.”

Clinic participants will be admitted to the game free of charge and receive T-shirts to be worn during the performance. Cost of the football clinic is $35, payable by cash, check or money order to the Lamar University Spirit Team.

The first promotion is great. I'm glad to see LU do somthing like this to help out the family and to bring reconition to the great job that our police force does and the risk they take every time they go out to make sure that we are safe.
