Jeremy Johnson is listed as the #2 QB on the depth chart. Looking at the efficiency ratings, Bevil has a 79 while JJ has a 178, but that's very limited action. The top 3 rushers are Garrett, Venson, and Johnson.

I like that this IW team is coming off a good game and is a competitve NAIA (much like Langston was) It should be much better than the Texas College game. I would like to see us shut down their rusher, that would be a good sign.

Since reviving its football program during the 2010 season, Lamar has won five of seven games in Provost Umphrey Stadium. Over the same time span, the Cardinals have gone 1-5 in their road games.

Naturally, coach Ray Woodard and his Cardinals are happy to be back at home, sweet home for the Incarnate Word game. In their seven home games since restarting the program last season, the Cardinals have outscored their opponents by an average margin of 24.4-18.8, and they've played before overflow crowds on four occasions. In 40-plus seasons of fielding a football team at the major college level, the Cardinals have posted a home record of 103-92-4. They have gone undefeated at home five times with 5-0 records in 1957, 1961, 1966 and 1967 and a 4-0 mark in 1958.

The 1958 Cardinals outscored their home opponents by a combined margin of 81-7 as they posted three shutouts in the four games. Overall, the Cardinals have outscored their home opponents by a combined margin of 3,777-3,565 over 199 games. That averages out to a 19.0-17.9 margin.

The 1957 Cardinals were the highest-scoring home team in school history as they rang up 181 points in five games for a 36.2 points-per-game average. Although they went 2-2 at home, the 1969 Cardinals had the lowest total of points with 38 for a 9.5 average.

We need to improve that home record this weekend.

I just hope we can clean it up this week and not have so many mistakes.
