This year the SLC is divided into 3 groups: McNeese is head and shoulders above everyone, then the middle tier of LU, Nicholls and A&M-CC. Everyone else is garbage, although SLU picked up a transfer from Baylor so maybe put them in the middle tier.
After the first quarter the Lady Cards are up by one point, 15-14. Lamar is shooting poorly again, but their defense has forced six turnovers to make up the difference.
Lamar shooting improves in the second quarter and the defense continues to stifle HCU. Lamar up 31-22 at the half. After not scoring in the first quarter Davis has eight points at the half.
Thirteen point lead for Lamar going to the fourth quarter 53-40. Despite having a slight height disadvantage Davis has scored twenty-five points over the 2nd and 3rd quarters, to lead the Cards.
Lady Cards win by eleven 65-54. Davis leads the way with 29 points and 15 rebounds and 3 steals. Weems had thirteen points. Dean only score four and none in the second half.
Men's game, HCU leads by two at the first media timeout, 7-5. Lamar starting out shooting poorly, 1 for 6 including 0 for 2 from three point range.
Lamar makes six of their next ten attempts to take a two point lead at the second media timeout. 16-14
Lamar up by three 30-27 at the last media timeout of the first half.
HCU comes back to take a one point lead at the half, 35-34. Lamar is just 1 for 7 from the three point arc and HCU is up four in rebounds.
For some reason Lamar never plays well there in that gym.
Second half has been back and forth. At the under eight-minute timeout, Lamar has a one-point lead 63-62.
3:33 left in the game for the last media timeout. HCU has a two-point lead 69-67 and coming out of the timeout with the ball. Correction, refs reviewed an earlier basket interference call and the call was reversed resulting in a tie game.
There's no excuse for the game to be this close.
