looked at game hawaii vs usc and both teams had 20 first downs,RB had 50 to 80 yards for the game. BUT USC had nearly 400 yards passing to hawaii 250 yard and hawaii had 4 turnovers to usc 1. looks like passing is the key??

looks like hawaii has a paid fan site. >:( hate it when that happens.

No, just make a scout profile, it's free, they have several threads up about our game. I'm already stirring them up.

Interesting side note on the game:

Norm Chow had just stepped off the bus in El Paso when he was told there was somebody waiting to meet with him.

Unexpected visitors had become habit since Chow had been named UH's head coach a week earlier. (He was allowed to finish his duties as Utah's offensive coordinator by coaching in the Sun Bowl in El Paso.) But Chow had been told there was something unique about this visit: The guy had driven a truck 725 miles from San Diego to drop off an application for a UH coaching job.

"That was different," Chow recalled.

And that was when Chow met Dennis McKnight, who had two stints (1999-2001 and 2006-2007) as a UH assistant coach.

Chow did not hire McKnight, but came away impressed with the effort.

McKnight coaches the offensive line for Lamar, which plays UH this Saturday at Aloha Stadium. The Cardinals arrive on Thursday, which is McKnight's 53rd birthday.

Christopher Dabe@cmdabe Hawaii coach Norm Chow said playing against Lamar's odd-man defensive front is a concern b/c they don't practice against that.

Christopher Dabe@cmdabe

Chow said film study on Lamar is limited to two games this season but he's aware of coordinators Kueck, Bradley & their experience.

Christopher Dabe@cmdabe

Chow said Lamar's athleticism at skill position is evident, and he said Ryan Mossakowski fits the QB mold.

Christopher Dabe@cmdabe

Chow credited own QB, Duke transfer Sean Schroeder, for continually getting up after being knocked down at Southern Cal in opener.

Christopher Dabe@cmdabe

Chow doesn't believe players will take Lamar lightly after recent FCS-over-FBS. But it's a concern for all coaches.

Christopher Dabe@cmdabe

All those comments from Hawaii coach Norm Chow came from the Mountain West Conference coaches teleconference.

Good write up on Lamar.

Six quarters of defense

Of note, Lamar didn't allow a single point the entire second half of that loss to the Rajin' Cajuns. This past week, the Cardinals played at home and soundly beat Prairie View A&M 31-0. That's now six straight quarters that Lamar has not permitted a solitary point.
