** LU vs UCA Game Thread **

You Cards got us Bear fans confused! Hold Sam to 14 and call plays like that against a totally depleted Bear team? Really? Run or throw it to the right side every time and this one wouldn't have been close! We lost even more players tonight. SFA will have a field day next week. Sorry your coach lost your homecoming. We sure didn't do anything but make miraculous catches and pray for SOME defense on that last drive. LOL

Umm, we tried to throw it to the right on 2nd and 3rd down on that last series...didn't work out too well for us.

Dude..I get you're mad. I think we're all mad and frustrated...but to say our team is "stagnant" is bullshit. Unless you're only counting wins. We have competed 2 weeks in a row against a couple of good teams (one Top 10 and the other Top 20). You cannot say that we would have even belonged on the same field with those teams the last couple of seasons.

I'm with you on this one, how can anyone say we are not getting better. We had one for sure TD pass dropped, 6 rushing yards in the first half (which is just pathetic), and I don't know how many big pass plays on 3rd down. That's why we lose this game, the thing everyone is talking about didn't help but come on.

Heck , even my wife ask why they didn't run the ball for a 1st down on the last series. Its stupid crap like that makes our team look bad. Something not clicking here. We are getting better, just wished we would hurry up and learn how to win against good teams.

One thing about our offense (with the exception of THE DROP).... You don't have the " they can bust one at anytime " feeling....I think we gotta cut loose more often.....

I got that same " what the hell happened" feeling I had years back, when LU lost at mcneese ( I think maybe the yr before we dropped football)....woulda, coulda , shoulda........

The crowd sucked. A game like this and the stadium is about half full??!! Pathetic.

there was a good crowd there...just because we dont sell out every game doesnt mean its pathetic....maybe everyone should start worrying more about winning football games than the size of the crowd...

That's what I was wondering. Corner was on him tight but I cut my eyes to the safety right there. He was coming in timing it, playing center field on it. How did he not knock it away? Crazy good catch I guess. In the old days you could time it and blow up the receiver. That's what happened to Ed Hickey on that last pass play against McNeese back in fall of 1988 you were talking about.

One thing I have noticed, Lamar has some young players doing pretty good.

I admit I was frustrated when I left the stadium last night. That was one winnable game and we let it slip away. I agree that we should run the ball especially when we needed that first down late. Against Oklahoma State we didn't pass one time on the last drive which made me mad because the give up Coach Ray showed and now we air the ball out to the exclusion of the run? We had time and all we needed was a field goal. Sheesh, sometimes you feel like we are doing so well DESPITE the coaching. A 26-24 loss is no shame to a team like UCA unless you look at how depleated their team is because of injuries. Dammit all we should have won and I'm glad we are now competitive in conference but to lose like last night is maddening.

I have one last thing to say. Good effort Cardinals, you played hard all game. It's hard to win when your coach is an idiot. :'(

We don't sell out ANY games. We've been playing pretty well with the exception of the Oklahoma state embarrassment. It is a huge conference home game. And it is homecoming and we have about 6k or 7k. Pathetic. Granted, for the SLC it was probably really good crowd but don't we have the largest city of the teams in the SLC? I expect more. And I want us to WIN. I think good fan support helps us win.

Piling up 4 win seasons year after year is going to kill attendance so I understand not having a large crowd. For comparison, here's the attendance yesterday around the SLC (from ESPN box scores):

McNeese - 15,352
SFA - 12,090
LU - 10,738
NW State - 8,383

I believe Lamar would get 15K+ at each game if they were winning like McNeese or SHSU, but with their track record will that ever happen?
