If you have around 14 minutes to spare, the link leads to an interesting video about Lamar and Energy.

 

I think Lamar's location in the middle of one of the most highly concentrated energy related areas in the country is a great advantage that should be nurtured. I see our location as a great advantage that can provide students with a hands-on experience in a major industry. It can provide a symbiotic relationship in its preparation of future graduates ultimately benefiting their employers.

(Full Disclosure: I'm partial to the Energy industry since I had opportunities ranging from working in Oil & Gas production at the field level in Southeast Texas to working at corporate headquarters during my career. E&P provided me with a very interesting, enjoyable, and mentally rewarding work experience in every facet of the industry that I was part of.)
