Lamar Baseball versus McNeese

LU wins game one five to one. LU scored four in the first and got an insurance run in the seventh. McNeese scored in the top of the eighth.

Lamar loses game two by a score of 5-4. Cards scored two runs in the second but gave up five in the fifth before getting two more runs in the sixth. Cards will need to win game three to stay ahead of Sam Houston in the loss column and be one game back of Southeastern La.

Lamar gave up one run in the first inning and McNeese got a great pitching performance as their starter goes 8.1 innings giving up six hits and no runs to win the rubber match on Sunday. With the loss LU drops to third in the standings two games in back of Southeastern La. and officially 1.5 games behind Sam although tied with Sam in the loss column. Lamar is still two games up on fourth place McNeese. Lamar needs the offense to get going again. Next weekend LU plays HBU and will need a sweep to have a real shot at the regular season title although Lamar is still in control of their own destiny as they still have Southeastern and Sam coming up.

Dang the luck. Lamar could've used the win today but you have to give props to a guy when he does a good job and McNeese's Ethan Stremmel did a number on the cards lineup today. Starting Wednesday against Texas Southern would be a great time to start another long winning streak.
