Lamar jumps out to an early lead in the top of the 1st. LU up 3-0 on two homeruns.

Currently 13-2 still in the top of the 3rd...Reid Russell has 2 HRs on the day already and is now 3 shy of tying the school record of 18

Lamar gives up one run in the bottom of the first but get seven in the top of the 2nd to go up 10-1 going into the bottom of the 2nd. LU gives back another run in the bottom of the 2nd but picked up four more in the top of the 3rd.

16-2 after 4...Will Hibbs isn't as sharp as normal on the mound as he's given up 6 hits and 3 walks but he's limited the damage to just the 2 runs 1 being unearned.

Substitutions starting to come in now...van der Meer and Russell have both been pulled.

16 - 2 after five innings. May only be two innings left if the 10 run rule is still in effect for conference games and LU keeps control.

Hibbs pitched five innings which should be enough to get him the win and with the big lead why push him. He had a good workout. Lamar added two runs in the 7th and two more in the 8th before the relievers gave up four in the bottom of the 8th. After eight innings Lamar is up 20-6. Hope we saved some runs for the rest of the weekend.

Lamar wins game one by a final of 20-6. Let's keep it going through the weekend.

SELA gets two runs in the bottom of the 7th and one in the bottom of the 8th to beat HBU and maintain their one game lead on LU.

I listened to a good bit of the game on TSRN and the UIW announcers were talking about a mercy rule that was needed. Apparently they got smoked by SELA not long ago worse than Lamar beat them. At the time they were talking about it was in the second inning after LU went up 10-1. Lamar needs to keep on pouring it on the rest of the weekend. Go Cards!

Game two, Lamar scores one in the top of the first. After two inning LU is up 1-0 and batting in the third.

After five innings Lamar is up 3-0 picking up one run in both the fourth and fifth innings. LU is batting in the sixth.

Lamar wins 3-1. Both teams had opportunities in the 7th and 8th but both pitching staffs were able to work out of trouble. Billy Love got the win and Eddy Fernandez got the save. Reid Russell and Cutter McDowell and Jake Nash led the way for Lamar's offense. LU has won the series and now they need to go out and finish off the sweep. Nice job Cards!

After a long rain delay, SELA clobbers HBU finishing up around 8:30 PM. Supposed to play the final game of that series still tonight to avoid potential bad weather tomorrow.

SELA completed the sweep of HBU late last night or early this morning so LU must win today to keep pace and set up the showdowns the next two weeks.
