LU Mens Basketball vs Georgia Tech

6:30PM CT game time. Should be a much better chance to see just where this team may be developmentally.

Five minutes into the game and LU is down by six and has not scored yet. GT has blocked two shots and LU has missed a couple of close in shots.

At the under eight minute timeout of the first half Lamar is now down by eleven (22-11). Similar problems to last years team with eight turnovers, Nzeakor on the bench with two fouls and poor free throw shooting at 0-4 so far.

Watching online. Not pretty for LU. Cannot hit free throws or 3-pointers. 33-15.

Lot of home cooking by the refs.

Halftime and LU is getting beat in every aspect. Score GT 44 - LU 22. Sixteen first turnovers, fourteen personal fouls and zero made free throws. Cards are a step late to everything and are not getting any of the fifty-fifty foul calls or loose balls. Hope to see a better effort in the second half.

Just under the four minute mark and Lamar has creeped back into a respectable score of GT 77 - Lamar 63. Bright spot for the second half is only two turnovers so far in the half. Nzeakor has stayed out of second half foul trouble and at the same time has forced both of GT's big men into foul trouble. Another bright spot has been the offensive performance of the freshman Easter. He has a lot to learn on defense as foul trouble has kept him from more playing time.

Would like to have seen Lamar play the whole game the way they did in the second half. Nzeakor commits one foul and scores 12 points all in the second half. Would have liked it if he had scored a few more field goals but he did make eight of eleven free throws. Foster and Sullivan did not produce any offense and and each had only one rebound. Need to see some more growth from these two big men.

If it is any consolation, McNeese got drubbed by Arizona State tonight.

Freshman guard Easter scored about 15 points. Good sign for the future. But for this year, lack of quality big men outside of Nkeazor will be a problem.

Re: LU Mens Basketball vs Georgia Tech

The inability for Price to develop a solid and true big man seems to be a consistent theme. Watched the Cards versus McNeese the years he was there and his time here at Lamar. He has never had a truely dominant big man. Remember when he had a seven footer at McNeese, the player was solid but not really dominant. Just doesn't seem to be something he is able to develop. Also has rarely used a really tall lineup. I agree the Easter kid looked pretty good last night. Several of the transfers have had some good minutes but the year off or lack of D-1 experience for the JUCO transfers creates a lot of inconsistency.
