UIW is a small private Catholic university. You want to go there it will cost you somewhere between $33,000/$45,000. https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/university-of-the-incarnate-word-3578

The main campus, in downtown San Antonio, has roughly 6,000 students. The football team plays its home games, in a 6,000 seat stadium. It's a nice facility, with astroturf, but it is a little on the small side. Official attendance, for the LU game was 3048.

After a lot of thought and reflection, I wanted to be honest about my desire to make a long-term move to a bigger program.Wickstrom leaves an AD job, where the teams play in the Sun belt Conference, with really good multisport facilities out the wazoo, where the football team plays, in a 28,000 seat stadium and moves to the Southland Conference and a 6,000 seat stadium. In 2017, Dr Brian Wickstrom was named the new AD. That year, UIW fired it's HC and hired Eric Morris. According to https://therivardreport.com/incarnate-word-reaps-dividends-from-investing-in-football-program/ Wickstrom hired Eric Morris, as the new HC, but under certain conditions. Wickstrom, with the approval of UIW President Thomas Evans, said he committed to replacing the dilapidated field on which the Cardinals played and practiced at Benson Stadium in order to lure Morris away from his role as offensive coordinator at Texas Tech. Wickstrom also committed to paying for players to attend summer school, a routine practice at larger football programs and numerous other FCS schools.

Then this happens,https://news4sanantonio.com/news/local/uiw-athletic-director-leaving-after-less-than-two-years Dr. Brian Wickstrom, who joined the University of Incarnate Word (UIW) August 16, 2017, is leaving the program immediately. there is no other information available.

Is there shades of the Pony Express going on with this guy? Does LU pay stipends for players to attend summer school? What does all this mean, I don't know.

Idk if the Pony Express is going on or not but apparently it is ok to pay summer school for athletes? What you included above says "it is common practice at larger schools". Whatever the case, it appears that Eric Morris knows how to coach an offense and knows that a QB needs to know how to pass, and knows that wide receivers are on the field to do more than just block.

Summer school can be paid by the athletic department but is not part of the scholarship and the school is not obligated to do so. Most schools use donations or auxiliary athletic department funds to do so. Lamar can not use student tuition fees for this like is used for scholarships, but can use Cardinal Club donations, monies from TV appearances, monies from the SLC or NCAA, or monies from playing Div 1 games.

Btw, went to the game and UIW has I nice new high school equivalent stadium with artificial surface. Also used for track and soccer. My guess that the crowd was 2000 actually at the game with about 250 Lamar fans.

He does know that. He was the Tech OC for several years, including Pat Mahomes time there. He knows how to successfully coach the air raid offense and now he brings it to the Southland Conference. When Kingsbury left Texas Tech, his replacement changed the coaching staff, which included OC and Morris ends up at UIW. All Morris needed was a passer and he probably scouted Copeland for Texas Tech.

UIW may not win the Southland but I bet they get an at large bid, to the FCS. I would not be surprised, if they get to the championship game.
