Baseball Final Series of Regular Season versus Tarleton

Cards have a big task this coming weekend as to have a chance to win the division the Cards will have to sweep Tarleton and hope for ACU to take two of the three from Sam in Huntsville. Getting a sweep against Tarleton is more than doable, but ACU taking two of three from Sam is a stretch. Sam swept ACU in their previous series this year and this time it is at home. Game one is Thursday at 6:00 PM

Cards gave up three runs in the top of the fourth but got one of them back in the bottom of the inning to be down 3-1 heading into the sixth. Cards really need to crawl back into this one as ACU is up 6-1 over Sam after two innings.

Cards get another run in the bottom of the sixth. Pitchers have to hold Tarleton these last three innings and the bats need to come up with at least two more runs.

Cards get the tying run home in the bottom of the seventh but leave the bases loaded. Cole comes in to start the eighth. Up to the bullpen to close it out.

Heading to extra innings with the score tied 3-3. Cole has pitched two good innings.

Cards gets through the 10th despite giving up a leadoff hit combined with a Lamar fielding error to put a runner on second to start the inning. With the runner on second, Cole strikes out the next batter then Dallas comes in to finish the innging with a strike out an intentional walk and a fielder's choice. Cards need to end this game.

Lamar gets the winning run on a walk by Kemp, a fly out and a double from McDonald. Final 4-3 Lamar. Game two starts tomorrow at 6:00 PM. Sam currently down by four in the seventh inning.

ACU gets the game one win over Sam, so the Cards are now one game back of Sam with two to play. RGV defeated SFA to stay two games back of the Cards for second place with two to play. A victory tomorrow will clinch the second-place spot,

Would be great if LU could win the division on the last day of the regular season!

Game two off to a good start. Lamar faces the minimum Tarleton batters in the first two innings then LU scores two runs in the bottom of the second to take a 2-0 lead.

Wheaton struggles in the top of the third, giving Tarleton the two runs back as he issued three walks and two singles facing eight batters in the inning. Score tied 2-2 heading to the Lamar half of the third.

Cards get a run in the bottom of the third on a single, a walk and a double but miss getting any more as the runner on third was ruled to have left to early on the fly out for the second out and is called out rather than scoring. After three innings the Cards are up 3=2.

Wheaton exits after five innings, giving up two runs and four walks with 90 pitches. Mize comes in to start the sixth.

Lamar gets a run in the bottom of the sixth to extend the lead to 4-2 but miss an opportunity to get more leaving the bases loaded.
