Any chance Lamar competes?

Oh yeah, we are playing football this week.

Only a 26 point underdog.

Somethings wrong, Lamar's opening play was a completed pass.

Cards actually had a nice opening drive that stalled out deep in ULM territory. Ran a fake field goal attempt and passed the ball right into ULM's hands.

ULM scores with under a minute left in the first quarter. Lamar responds with another good drive but misses a field goal attempt.

Lamar played a solid game the first twenty five minutes of the game, but a blocked punt for a ULM touchdown and a Lamar turnover that set ULM up for a third score has Lamar in a deep hole down twenty-one about two minutes left in the half.

Down 21-0 at start of 4th.

Lamar completes a drive with a touchdown pass to Bowden. 12:37 left in the game.

LU scores on a long drive. 21-7 ULM. Difference in the game are the mistakes by LU.

Holy cow, Lamar gets a 47 yard TD run with 8:16 left to close the gap to seven points. ULM 21 - Lamar 14.

I thought we played well. Offense rather conservative.

 

the fake field goal, the blocked punt and the int that hit the te in the chest were just too much

coleman had a good game, wish they would have him keep it more

secondary had a good game

I found two things encouraging yesterday.

 

Lamar came back and was competitive on the road against an FBS team and

 

Idaho 33 Nevada 6. They beat a Mountain West team the way they beat us.

I thought we looked MUCH better than week 1. And, after that blocked punt, I thought we'd fold the tent and get blown out. It was great to see we didn't and it was nice to see the defense get some stops. Coleman looked to get more and more confident as the game went on. Thus far, he's been way better than Chandler. I'm almost scared to admit it but that game gave me a little hope.

Next week will be another test as South Dakota is a preseason middle of the pack pick in the traditionally strong MVFC. Lamar has played at least competitive second halves against good competition so far. The Cards will need a good start next week.
