SLC Football Gets No Respect

I'm a little surprised UIW didn't get a bid but most of the conference was winless against non-conference D1 opponents.

If the SLC wants some respect it needs to start with Nicholls winning at least two playoff games. Lamar was winless against its FCS non-conference opponents, but both of them are in the top eight seeds and getting a first round bye. Also the fact that both Nicholls and UIW didn't get credit for the probable win they would have had if NWST didn't forfeit probably hurt. Edited November 20, 2023 by geezer

I was a bit surprised that UIW did not get selected. But the SLC teams did not do well in non-conference, with the exception of UIW.

I know that "Past Performance Is No Guarantee of Future Results," but Incarnate Word has playoffs wins the last 2 years... it's really surprising they didn't get an invite.

 

But, we can spin this to a Lamar positive of not having to recruit against 2 playoff teams in the conference. Ross has changed the culture. I didn't feel this good about the direction of the program 5 years ago this week when we had a playoff game.

Seventh place MVFC team SIU up 21-0 over Nicholls after the first quarter. SLC isn't going to gain any respect with this performance.

SLC football showed today that they were deserving of no respect. I thought going into conference we were a pretty bad league. I think this showed how awful the league was this year. Sad but what other conclusion can you draw from it.
